University of Cambridge
“We welcome the Extended Project and would encourage applicants to undertake one as it will help to develop independent study and research skills valuable for higher education.”
Durham University
“Durham University sees the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as a valuable addition to A-levels or alternative post-16 qualifications. As a research-intensive University, Durham supports the skills that the EPQ helps to develop and sees them as beneficial to improving transition from year 13 to Higher Education.”
University of Birmingham
“Applicants who take the EPQ and meet our offer criteria will be made two offers: the standard offer for their programme of choice; and an alternative offer which will be one grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ.”
What Is The Extended Project Qualification: Online Research Programme?
This programme for A-level students offers 1:1 tutoring and bespoke guidance with a highly-skilled Oxford or Cambridge academic, culminating in a full-length academic research paper befitting the EPQ standards.
This personalised programme will equip you with the skills to undertake your EPQ with confidence, harnessing the expertise from accomplished Oxford and Cambridge academics boasting extensive experience of pre-university curriculums. Through careful guidance and support throughout the programme from mentor and tutor, your programme will culminate in the completion of a 5,000 word essay designed to provide you with the highest chance of success.
You will also receive a tailored evaluation report conveying encouraging, personalised feedback to further your subject interest and develop your skills and knowledge. Under the tutelage of our PhD Oxbridge mentors and tutors, you can devise and develop your research question, explore the topic in rich detail, propose innovative ideas and construct a structured viewpoint, all within a study format that works for your goals and study style. Depending on what you choose, your mentor will offer study tips, provide study plan support and practical advice on time-management.
Our three delivery modes make the programme unique and customisable. Meet your learning goals at your pace and time.

How do great people find answers to deep and meaningful questions?
What Do Alumni Say?

I would describe the Immerse Academic Insights programme as intellectually stimulating, diverse, inspiring, motivating. I’ve definitely enjoyed meeting new people from all around the world, it has been amazing. I’ve loved studying something that I’m so passionate about, and being around like minded people and learning with them has been an incredible experience.
We’ve done dissections and other practicals such as suturing and gone through a lot of content that I wouldn’t have learned at school. I feel like the Immerse course is really preparing me for higher education by giving me insight into what being a university student might be like.
I looked at the essay competition and it seemed like an incredible opportunity, so I applied for the essay competition, got a partial scholarship, and here I am!
