Throughout the Immerse Education Computer Science summer school for 13-15 year olds, you will learn the foundations of Computer Science, reside at a Cambridge University College, and develop new computing skills whilst working through a carefully constructed syllabus.
You will gain a better understanding of the history and trends within computer science, as well as gaining practical insight into programming, data and networks. While there are 7,099 spoken languages, according to HOPL there are over 8,900 programming languages! Python is one of the most popular of these in the 21st Century as it is both easy to learn and highly functional. You’ll look at python basics, syntax and semantics.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are two of the most interesting fields in Computer Science and Engineering. Robotics is an intersection between the two and you will consider the practical implications within Robotics. You will also learn Robot programming using Raspberry Pi and Python to enhance your practical skills.
You will be tasked to come up with a problem from a list of topics, and throughout the two weeks create a solution through the application of your programming skills learnt on the programme. This culminates in presenting your findings and programmed solution to your peers and tutor.
