Francesca's Journey to Success
Irish student Francesca first learned about Immerse through seeing it advertised on facebook. Knowing that she had always dreamed of visiting Cambridge and studying at the University, she decided to enter the Immerse Essay Competition. Francesca chose medicine as her subject, and spent time working on her academic essay.
Her hard work paid off, and Francesca was awarded a partial scholarship to attend her chosen course of Medicine Academic Insights in Cambridge in 2019.
Francesca knew that she wanted to study Medicine in Cambridge in the future, so this course was the perfect opportunity for her to gain further insight into what life is like for a Cambridge medicine student.
The course helped Francesca to push herself further academically to prepare for higher education, and found it inspiring that her fellow Immerse students were from all over the world.
Francesca told Immerse that she had mentioned her experience on Academic Insights within her University application to study at Cambridge University. She was able to relay experiences on the programme during her Cambridge interview, and told Immerse how the Academic Insights programme gave her the confidence to pursue her dream of attending Cambridge University.
Francesca is now part of the Cambridge rowing team, immersing herself in the University culture.
“The Immerse Education Academic Insights programme was a genuinely formative experience for me. Many people would underestimate the value of it at the time, but the experience on the course has left me with contacts from all around the world that I would never have had before.
Having the memories at Immerse in the last summer before COVID made it a moment in time to look back on and remember with pride.”
