Online research opportunities & outcomes
Develop a pre-university research project
Learning history online gives students the chance to explore historical events, figures, and ideas with expert guidance. This programme combines personal tutoring with a detailed research project, helping students think like historians. Participants examine sources, analyse different viewpoints, and develop strong arguments. At the end, students present their work at the Immerse Online Symposium.
Skills you will develop
Students learn how to evaluate historical evidence, form clear opinions, and express their ideas in writing. They improve their ability to research independently, compare sources, and question what they read. These skills will be useful no matter what a student chooses to do, and especially in essay-based degree subjects and careers where critical thinking is important. Study history online with us!
A learning experience beyond the classroom
There is more to our history summer school than simply learning facts by heart. Through guided research and personalised support, students explore the area of history that interests them most from multiple angles—understanding cause and effect, tracing how events shape societies, and making meaningful connections between the past and the present.
Certificate of achievement and Letter of Recommendation
Top-performing students may also be awarded a personal Letter of Recommendation from their tutor - a prestigious endorsement to further strengthen future applications.
Build a strong academic portfolio
Our online history certificate programme helps students stand out in university applications. A completed research project shows curiosity, independence, and a passion for history. Admissions officers look for students who take the initiative, and this programme provides a meaningful way to do that.
