Participant Code of Conduct

• Behave in a way that allows them and others to learn.
• Arrive on time for all academic sessions and activities, and bringany requested materials and equipment.
• Use electronic devices responsibly and respectfully throughout theprogramme.
• Refrain from using any photographic or video-recording devicesduring academic sessions and activities without the consent offellow participants and/or staff.
• Complete all work themselves and within the agreed deadline.

• Self-assessment and practice
  E.g.“Can you give me some practice questions for this topic?”
• Generating ideas as starting points
  E.g.“I need ideas for a poster about T cells.”
• Reviewing and critically analysing texts for validity
  E.g.“Can you review this article for accuracy?”
• Explaining concepts
  E.g.“Can you explain the concept of realism in internationalrelations in simple terms?”
• Improving grammar and writing for non-native speakers
  E.g.“Can you check and correct this paragraph I’ve written?”
• Experimenting with different styles
  E.g.“ Can you rewrite this paragraph in a more formal tone?”
• Summarising research
  E.g.“Please summarise these articles, comparing how the authors’stances differ on the subject.”

Using AI as a study resource should not overshadow the production of allclasswork as the students’ own.

Participants should:

• Be able to explain concepts or defend points of view withoutusing AI to assist.
  -Being unable to explain concepts in the student’s own wordsindicates a potential lack of confidence or understanding.
  -Immerse’s programmes aim to build both confidence andunderstanding. Not knowing should not be punished; it is aninvitation for practice and growth.
• Critically evaluate information
  -We encourage students to always critically evaluate their sourcesof information, whether they are AI-generated or not
• Never use AI to produce large chunks of written textCritically evaluate information
  -While using AI to generate initial ideas is permissible, being ableto write effectively without AI is a crucial skill
  -AI can be used to correct and improve on written work, not todictate it.

• Consider their actions and the consequences of plagiarism.
• Follow the guidelines provided by their tutor.
• Reference all sources (including AI-use) cited in the work they submit,particularly their personal project.
• Check with their tutor if they are unsure about referencing or quoting.
• Write in their own English without overreliance on direct translationtools

• Treat resources and facilities belonging to the site andImmerse with respect.
• Leave resources and facilities tidy/clean after use.
• Not remove or alter resources and facilities withoutpermission.
• Use college resources only for their intended purpose(s).
• Not leave personal information behind after usingresources and facilities.

• Be vigilant about their safety when using the internet
• Not post images of fellow participants or members of staff on theinternet without their express consent.
• Not share any sexual imagery.
• Not access private, secure or financial material on public devices.
• Not access inappropriate material on public or private devices.
• Not access or download illegal material.
• Not purchase inappropriate items, or age restricted content online.

• Observe curfews.
• Observe and follow on-campus regulations and protocols.
• Not change their allocated bedroom without consent from ImmerseEducation.
• Not allow visitors into their residence at any time, except with expressconsent from an Immerse senior member of staff.
• Ensure permitted visitors abide by relevant residence regulations andleave the residence before curfew.
• Not have their own items of furniture, fridge, freezer, cooking appliances,air conditioning unit, heater or electric bedding in their bedroom.
• Not use their own wireless router.
• Refrain from photographing or video recording fellow participantswithout their consent.
• Place rubbish in the bins provided.
• Not throw anything out of windows.
• Be respectful of fellow participants by keeping noise to a minimum andreducing noise levels when requested by fellow participants or staff.
• Respect the privacy of fellow participants and not enter any participant’sbedroom.
• Use all facilities responsibly and hygienically
• Ensure permitted visitors abide by relevant residence regulations andleave the residence before curfew.
• Not engage in activities that could lead to a fire including (but not limitedto): covering or obstructing heaters/radiators, burning candles or othermaterials.
• Report any damage to an Immerse senior member of staff.

• Pay attention to and follow welfare, health and safety instructionsgiven by members of staff.
• Refrain from doing anything that puts others in danger.
• Remain with at least one other participant at all times when outsidethe accommodation or classrooms.
• Remember that cyclists are very common and pose the same hazardas vehicles would. Please be vigilant and be mindful of vehicles andobserve general road safety at all times.
