Industry Visits
Students in London will explore the industry through expert-led workshops, company visits, and real-world insights.

Institute of Economic Affairs
Participants visited for a presentation introducing think tank careers, followed by a session focused on a specific area of policy advocacy, gaining insight into the work of a researcher in the field.

Guinness Global Investors
The Head of Origination conducted a Venture Capital workshop in Canary Wharf. Participants evaluated an investment deck and decided whether to invest £3 million, gaining practical insight into venture capital and decision-making.

St James' Place
Participants visited St. James’ Place for networking, adviser masterclasses, and career guidance. After studying theory, they analysed real-world portfolios, collaborated on financial advice, and presented their strategic reasoning to industry professionals.

At io.finnet’s London headquarters, participants attended a presentation and quiz introducing blockchain and cryptocurrency. They discovered how these technologies secured transactions and reshaped the financial industry through innovative, real-world digital applications.
Explore the curriculum
An introduction to how banks operate within the global economy, exploring what banks do, how they make money, and how the financial system is shaped by central banks. Students will learn how interest rates and monetary policy influence markets, and build core finance foundations through time value of money and compound growth.
An overview of how financial markets work, including the purpose and mechanics of stocks, bonds, exchange-traded funds, and commodities. Students will explore the relationship between risk and return, learn how diversification works in practice, and evaluate real-world market opportunities.
An introduction to financial statements and business decision-making. Students will learn how to read balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and explore how companies make financing and growth choices, using financial data to assess performance and stability.
A look at cryptocurrency and financial innovation, exploring blockchain, market disruption, and emerging financial technologies. Students will examine volatility and speculative risk, alongside real examples of financial scandals, regulation, and the ethical responsibilities that shape modern finance.
An introduction to valuation and investment thinking through discounted cash flow modelling. Students will learn how long-term value is estimated, understand the assumptions that drive models, and develop a critical mindset around financial risk, uncertainty, and reward.
Simran Ghera is an MSc Banking and Finance graduate from King’s College London, with a first-class degree in International Accounting and Finance. She has experience as an Equity Research Analyst for the King’s Investment Fund and has worked in accounting and financial operations roles, with a strong focus on financial analysis and global markets. Across two weeks, she introduced students to how modern financial systems operate, combining theory with real-world case studies and practical modelling so they could understand markets, assess risk, and explore careers across banking, investment, and finance.
