Walk This Way...

After a fully loaded breakfast, the participants scurried off to find out where they would be having tutorials for the next 2 weeks.

The participants spent the day in their introductory tutorials, after which we all went on walking tours of Cambridge. We visited the beautiful Pembroke College. On our way there we also tried to recreate The Beatles’ Abbey Road picture (but of course, with more sass). We visited the Cavendish Laboratory where the electron was first split, Trinity College which has produced the most Nobel Prize winners of any Cambridge College (32!) and on our way back, stopped off at Sidney Sussex College – the burial site of Oliver Cromwell’s head.

Quiz Time!

Following the walking tour, we returned to Queens’ for dinner in the hall. For the evening activity, we got together in our mentor families and took part in a quiz – a hotly contested one at that. Did you know that the Bridge of Sighs belonged to St. John’s College? Or that the term ‘biscuit’ means “twice-cooked”? Ryta’s family came out on top (by 2 points!) and earned a box of chocolates to celebrate.

It’s been a busy first day for us here in Cambridge but the fun has only just begun!
