Sophie Łozowska

Sophie is the winner of our 2025 Autumn/Winter Online Research Symposium. Through her research, she searched for an answer to the ongoing debate surrounding human pheromones, focusing on the gap between popular claims and scientific evidence. While compounds such as androstenone, androstenol, androstadienone are frequently cited as pheromones, methodological flaws and inconsistent findings have limited their validation. By examining molecular inaccuracies in supporting studies, her paper underscored how concentration and bioassay rigour are often overlooked in odour research, designating plausible pheromone precursors and their place within human behaviour and social interactions.
