Explore the Veterinary Studies programme in Sydney

Immerse Education's tailored veterinary course in Australia introduces students aged 15-18 to the basics of animal care, from companion animals to large animals and wildlife. Across the programme, students explore topics like animal structure and function, genetics and genomics, animal nutrition, animal health and disease, and the nervous system, building a real foundation in how animal bodies work and stay healthy. Genetics and genomics sessions also connect to wider conservation work, showing how modern biology supports the care of wild species and ecosystems. This course provides a hands-on introduction to the field, preparing students for further study in animal science and farm animal work. Case-based sessions bring the science to life, exploring real disease processes and diagnostic thinking through practical work in the local community, and developing the kind of clinical reasoning used every day in practice. Immerse Education's veterinary medicine course tutors have years of experience working with animals and teaching future vets. They bring their knowledge from clinics, research, and animal care into the classroom, building students' clinical skills and helping them understand what it really means to work as a veterinary surgeon or in animal welfare. Our Sydney summer school tutors share their own career stories, giving students insight into different paths in veterinary science and the profession more broadly. For students new to English veterinary terms, tutors take extra time to explain them clearly, making learning easier and preparing students for further study or work in different countries. Their guidance helps students leave with genuine confidence in the field.

Where you will be staying

Students attending our Sydney summer school will reside at Rydges Camperdown, a modern hotel within walking distance of the University of Sydney campus. Students stay in twin en-suite rooms, with separate male and female allocations, 24/7 reception, and dedicated pastoral staff ensuring a secure and comfortable residential experience. Academic sessions take place at St Andrew’s College, founded in 1867 and among the University of Sydney’s most established residential colleges, providing a traditional collegiate environment that combines heritage architecture with contemporary teaching facilities. Together, the hotel and college environment offers a balanced experience of campus atmosphere and central Sydney living.
