The day began with a hearty breakfast and slightly sleepy expressions as we approach the end of the first week of lessons and activities. Day 4 of lessons featured law students studying human rights and economics beginning to master the complexities of game theory. Sadly the sun was not playing our game, and an overcast morning sadly led to a rainy afternoon and, to replace sports day, a move indoors for dodgeball (a viciously competitive affair, the mentor team being shamed!) followed by a Zumba class featuring the single ladies Beyonce dance routine (!?!), the comedy of which was enhanced by some top class male participation!

Rain, Rain Go Away

Meanwhile half the participants braved the rain, donned the umbrellas and headed off to Cambridge’s beautiful Botanic Gardens. The participants enjoyed themselves, taking photos and exploring. All participants had some free time before dinner to explore the city, do some reading for their course or chill out after a busy day.

Dinner was followed by an optional talk on the general application process to UK universities, which gave information about how to apply, advice on personal statements etc. and was followed by individual subject talks on applying to Cambridge and other UK universities for medicine, law and maths. A mountain of cake fuelled the tea and cake Q&A session which followed the talks where participants could ask mentors anything about applying to university, being a student and anything else they could think of!
