Immerse Education’s Chemistry summer programme, hosted in a college of Oxford University, offers students aged 16-18 the chance to explore key topics such as organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
Students will participate in lab experiments and engage with academic experts, experiencing university-level study firsthand. Our programme is for 16-18-year-old participants who wish to explore the practical applications of chemistry. Through engaging learning experiences, participants gain insights into chemical processes and their real-world impact.

In these academically enriching sessions, Expert Academic Tutors guide students through a curriculum that deepens understanding of their chosen subject and enhances individual critical thinking. With a focus on active learning and discussion, each session is designed to broaden subject knowledge and provide insights that extend beyond traditional classroom learning.
Each student has the unique opportunity to work on a personal project, building a skill set that includes communication, critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Through this project, students cultivate highly sought-after skills, which preparing them to excel across future academic, professional, and personal settings.
One-on-one sessions with an Expert Academic Tutor provide tailored guidance to support Immerse students in their academic journey. These sessions can help them build an individual plan for future studies in chosen area of interest, offering personalised insights that align with their academic goals and aspirations.
Upon completing Immerse Education programme, students receive a Certificate of Achievement, reflecting their dedication and growth. This certificate highlights students’ commitment and acquired skills, making it a valuable addition to both their academic and professional portfolio.
Learn about atomic theory and how atoms form the building blocks of matter. This module covers atomic structure, electron configurations, and the periodic table, helping you to understand how the elements interact and form the foundation of chemistry.
Delve into the principles of thermodynamics. Learn about energy, heat transfer, and the laws governing thermodynamic processes, helping you understand how chemical reactions are influenced by energy changes.
Explore how atoms bond to form compounds, and learn about hybridisation and the geometry of molecules. This module will help you understand how chemical bonds shape the properties of compounds and how these interactions are vital in chemical reactions.
Take what you’ve learned about chemistry and apply it to your own research project. Investigate a topic of your choice, conduct experiments, and present your findings. This hands-on project will deepen your understanding of the chemical principles you’ve explored.

Live and study in a Oxford University College
All participants will be allocated to a college a few weeks before arriving, based on their dates and subject choice. If you would like to stay in the same location as a friend/sibling – please let us know and we will do our best to arrange this, where possible.
Males and females have separate accommodation in every college, and there is wi-fi available throughout.

Fine-dine in Formal Hall
Enjoy a ‘traditional ‘Formal Hall’ – a meal that takes place in every college. This candlelit fine dining affair takes place in magical surroundings, so smart attire is highly advised.
Activities
Activities and excursions are run by our team of friendly mentors – whose main job is to maximise your enjoyment. Outside of lessons, we are proud to offer a busy and diverse social programme to help you get the most out of your time in Oxford. This includes activities such as punting on the River Cherwell, zorb football and a murder mystery night in the college.
Day Excursions
There are also two excursions during the programme, one day trip to visit Cambridge and its constituent colleges, as well as an optional day out in London, seeing the city’s most famous landmarks as well as some free time for shopping. Those who choose not to travel to Cambridge are invited to afternoon tea in Oxford.
