Industry Workshops

Engage in exciting industry workshops and talks

Old Operating Theatre

Housed in the attic of the early eighteenth-century church of the old St Thomas’ Hospital, this atmospheric museum offers a unique insight into the history of medicine and surgery in Europe’s oldest surviving surgical operating theatre. All schools and groups will experience the popular Victorian Surgery Brought to Life talk. You’ll soak in the atmosphere of this unique space, as the Museum Team reconstruct an operation before the arrival of anaesthesia and antiseptics.

Make a Medic Clinical Workshop

Make a Medic is a charitable organisation run by a group of UK-based medical students and junior doctors. They offer practical workshops with models to allow students to work through principle clinical examinations in modern medicine. Guided by a qualified doctor, you’ll have the chance to try out first-hand the everyday tasks that so often save lives, like inserting a breathing tube to a catheter.

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is a public research university in Bloomsbury, central London, and a member institution of the University of London that specialises in public health and tropical medicine. This workshop will open your eyes to the different roles within the school and the cross-section between research, education and communication on a global scale

Our Alumni says

The Career Insights programme has been really, for lack of a better word, ‘immersive’ into what the experience of living in London for university would really be like – having that chance to connect with different people and comparing our own experiences, discussing what we’ve learned and meshing all our knowledge to come up with big collective ideas to share with the group in class.

The programme has given me a lot of clarity on what a career or even university education in medicine really looks like. Having the opportunity to talk to med students and people who are working with PhDs, while looking at all sorts of different career opportunities in medicine, has been really beneficial.
