Module 1 - An Introduction To Psychology

You are taught how multiple regressions allows researchers to control variables that would otherwise confound one’s results, and the most commonly used tools to test hypotheses and estimate causal effects. The session also gives you a chance to learn from methods such as natural experiments, regression discontinuities, and instrumental variables.

The common belief is that much of a person’s psychological traits come from genetic factors. But how far does genetics go? To what extent do a person’s environment and upbringing affect their thinking and behaviour? In this session, check out how advances in biotechnology shed much light on these questions. It has transformed the way we study genes and behaviour.

Do you often think that your memories and senses reflect the truth? Much psychological research points otherwise. In this class, you will discover how the human brain is prone to cognitive illusions. As a result, we often see things that aren’t there. And we tend to miss out on what’s obvious.

Here’s one of the most exciting parts of this programme. You’ll get the opportunity to present your area of interest in what you’ve learned so far. Participate in insightful discussions with your peers. And even receive practical feedback from your expert tutor. It’s a guarantee that you’ll bring the memorable learnings with you for many years to come.
