Since I was little, I´ve always been curious about why things happen and how the world works. Politics, law and writing started to shape the way I see the world, and finding Immerse Education essay competition and summer program felt like an opportunity to connect my interests, and grow both academically and personally.

Driven by my curiosity, I decided to participate in the essay competition. I chose cinema as my topic because it is something I am truly passionate about, while also connecting it to my interests in politics and law. I researched Sofia Coppola’s films and wrote my essay examining how filmmakers like her address social and political issues, and how storytelling can reflect and influence society. Although I had some doubts about my essay, but when I found out that it earned me the full scholarship to attend one of the Immerse Education summer program, I was so happy.

I decided to take the Law summer programme because pursuing a career in law has always been one of my dreams. I wanted to understand how legal systems work around the world, building on what I already knew about law in Brazil. I chose London because it is a city I had always wanted to visit, and its legal system offered a new perspective to learn from.

During my days in London, I immersed myself in the programme, made many new friendships, and learned a lot from everyone around me. By the end of it, I felt proud and grateful for having taken this step on my own it was an experience that truly made the whole journey worthwhile.

The classes were highly interactive, making learning both engaging and effective. I gained a lot from discussions, debates, and collaborative exercises with students from all over the world. Visiting courts and law firms offered a unique insight into how legal practice works in the UK. Outside the classroom, icebreaker activities and social events allowed me to get to know my fellow students, and I formed many meaningful friendships.

Having experienced the UK firsthand, I hope to pursue a law degree there, even though many students in Brazil often look to the US. Conversations with UK law students helped me clarify my goals and understand the opportunities ahead. At the same time, I want to continue nurturing my creative side, keeping writing and film as parallel passions, so that my future combines both my academic ambitions and personal interests.
