Friday, 16 July

It was another great day for Immerse students – and it, unfortunately, happened to be our last day on the program.  We started the day off with breakfast and then attended morning classes.

In medicine, we had some time to work on our final presentations about a scientific paper of our choice. Then we learned about experimental medicine techniques, such as using music to help dementia patients retrieve memories.

For lunch, we went to a Greek gyro place in the market and walked around Cambridge.  In the second medical class, we delivered our presentations – mine was about the use of stem cells in a neurodegenerative disease known as Friedreich’s Ataxia. All the presentations were very interesting and reflected everyone’s specific passions.

On our final afternoon in the College, we had a bittersweet graduation ceremony followed by a formal dinner and goodbye party.  Although the program has come to an end, the friendships I have made on the course have not, and my appetite for knowledge and love of medicine has grown!
