Between Tuesday’s ongoing academic sessions, more students had the opportunity to undertake the tour of Pembroke College, home of Ted Hughes, Naomie Harris, and Tom Hiddleston, to name a few. The summer sky provided the perfect backdrop to take in the sights of the college’s scenic old court and blooming gardens.

Tea in Grantchester

For the afternoon, students travelled to the historical Orchard Tea Rooms in Grantchester, a spot previously frequented by the likes of Isaac Newton, Virginia Woolf, Alan Turing, and Bertrand Russell. Despite an onslaught of wasps, students enjoyed tea and scones amongst the orchards and sunshine, before walking the famous route through Grantchester Meadows and Newnham back into Cambridge in time for dinner.

The evening featured a highly popular walking tour, ‘Spies and Scoundrels’, in which students heard tales of some of Cambridge’s more clandestine alumni as they strolled through the city centre. Another option chosen by students was a lecture by popular philosopher, Nigel Warburton, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
