Academic Pathways

Immerse was the best two weeks of my life! I loved every minute of it, and made so many friends from all over the world. I am so grateful to my tutor, as well as to the most awesome mentor team! I really felt part of the family.

The individualised attention was something that I was incredibly pleased with. It really helped me to delve into my area of interest, and to learn far more about the subject than I could have on my own. It’s built up my confidence, and I’m now sure that I want to advance my interest to university level.

I studied Business Management on the Oxbridge Online Research Programme. I am a very shy person and I thought that I would have a problem communicating with my tutor, but as soon as we started our first lesson all my nerves went away and I started talking normally as if I was talking to a friend! I found the course really useful to better understand what business is. Now that I have tried it out I would love to continue studying it.

I chose to enrol in the Oxbridge Online Research Programme to explore artificial intelligence in depth. I found it challenging producing a long essay, but it was very rewarding. I enjoyed learning about artificial intelligence and I want to continue studying it. My tutor, Elizabeth had an in-depth understanding of my needs and shared lots of resources. She simplified lots of information in a way that I could easily understand, and was inspiring, passionate, supportive, patient, and dedicated. She opened many doors for my future, I am truly grateful.

I was a bit worried as I do not know much about law and what area I wanted to do, but when I started to explore my ideas with my tutor, she helped me to finally find out the specific law I would like to do in the future; family law.

My tutor was a Doctor of Physics, the guidance of whom I enjoyed throughout. They made every effort to approximate the experience to a university-style project, which is what I was looking for. They gave me valuable insight into university approach to science, as well as related advice.

My subject area was chemistry and chemical engineering. I was concerned about the course being virtual as I found it difficult to learn from my online lessons prior to the course and that meant there was no face to face learning. However, once I had started the course, as the lectures for my subject were one on one, it meant that it was really personalised and that there was a lot of attention on my understanding.

I studied Computer Science in this course, specifically Cryptocurrency and Artificial Intelligence. My tutor was an excellent tutor and one of the best teachers I have ever had. Though the topic of blockchain is very complex, he explained these concepts to me very clearly such that I was able to digest large amounts of knowledge easily. The use of diagrams to explain concepts helped me understand them much more easily and always gave constructive feedback when I needed them.

The Oxbridge Online Research Programme was initially recommended to me by a teacher. Through further reading, I chose to enrol in the programme as it was a programme I thought was focused on introducing me to a potential career path, and was able to whet my interest in Medicine. I thought it was very suitable, given the stage I was at, and would be able to provide me not only with an early insight of the field of Medicine, but also with an understanding of the work expected in universities. I thought that the programme would be able to equip me with knowledge and experience I could take forward into the future, and seemed different to anything I had tried before.
