Overlapping Subjects Between Age Groups

One of the unique features of our Cambridge summer school is that many subjects are offered across multiple age brackets.

As a result, participants can build on their interests year after year, moving from introductory sessions to more advanced, pre-university level study.

13–15 and 16–18 Overlap

There are 10 subjects available for both 13–15 and 16–18 age groups:

  • Architecture
  • Business Management
  • Computer Science
  • Creative Writing
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Medicine
  • Physics
  • Psychology

For example, if you study Architecture at 14, you might focus on design basics and model-making. By the time you return at 17, you’ll explore theory, urban planning, and digital tools.

Similarly, in Business Management, younger learners cover leadership and teamwork, while older participants tackle case studies, financial modelling, and strategy.

15–18 and 16–18 Overlap

There are 5 subjects that overlap between the 15–18 and 16–18 programmes:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Business Management
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Medicine

Here, the overlap works slightly differently. The 15–18 subjects focus on career preparation. For 16–18 year olds, advanced academic subjects are also available – offering rigorous pre-university preparation.

For example, in Artificial Intelligence, 15–18-year-olds explore the career landscape – getting hands-on with visits to AI-powered startups and learning how traditional industries are adjusting to this radical new technology. On the academic Artificial Intelligence course, 16–18-year-olds explore algorithms, neural networks, and theory in the classroom.

Beyond the Classroom

Immerse’s summer school in Cambridge experience goes beyond lectures. In addition to academic sessions, you’ll enjoy excursions, social activities, and cultural enrichment.

While younger groups benefit from closer supervision, for example often having lunch in college, older participants are given the freedom to explore the city independently.

This balance of independence and support is one of the reasons why 97% of our students recommend our programmes. Over the years, we’ve also welcomed more than 20,000 participants from around the world, each leaving with new knowledge, friendships, and confidence for the future.
