After another productive morning of academic sessions, the Immerse participants were given the opportunity to tour Downing College. Founded in 1800, Downing is often described as the oldest of the new colleges and has since been named as one of the eco-friendliest Cambridge colleges. On the tour the students were able to visit the beautiful grounds and gain a comprehensive insight into college life.
Following their second academic session, the Immerse students had the option to choose between three diverse workshops: Building a Personal Brand, Applying into Law and How to Write a Personal Statement. Students were able to ask their mentors about the application process and acquire exposure to the required admission tests, as well as have unrelated personal questions answered. All of these workshops were of great assistance to the students, who accordingly learnt how to make the best possible Oxbridge application.
Finally, Quiz Night arrived! In teams which constituted their prospective Mentor Families, the Immerse students participated in a competitive quiz night put on by Shefali and Zareen. From fun rounds such as Movies and Music to more conventional rounds such as Cambridge Trivia and Science, the Immerse students’ general knowledge was really put to the test. The mentors were all encouraging their own family, with some mentors cheekily helping their family with challenging questions. All the students were incredibly enthusiastic in attempt to fight for the champion’s prize, but it was Daniel’s victorious Mentor Family who sealed glory by only 4 points.
During the students’ academic sessions, the mentors are rehearsing hard for the Immerse Talent Show. Although their act remains secret for now, they all agree that it will take some real talent from the competing students to be beaten.
