Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August marked the arrival of our Session Three Immerse students. All were eager to explore their college of residence – Queens’. With beautiful old courts, a chapel, and fantastic accommodation in the new court, Queens’ can certainly provide for a diverse taste of what Cambridge has to offer.

Over the weekend, students also had the opportunity to meet their mentors for the first time. I know that I felt an immediate connection with my mentees, and I am sure that the rest of the mentors felt the same. We chatted about topics ranging from the stresses of school to future career options, as well as what to expect from the two-week programme. Our participants were particularly excited by the prospect of a trip to Oxford, as well as a kayaking outing next week. Clearly, there are a whole range of activities to look forward to!

Today marked the start of formal lessons and our Immerse mentees were keen to meet their tutors. This session marks the launch of some new and exciting programmes for 13-15 year olds, ranging from Creative Writing and English Literature, to Medicine, Mathematics and Computer Science. . It is fantastic and encouraging to see the students showing interest in a subject they are passionate about, particularly at their age.
I look forward to re-connecting with my mentees to hear about how their first lessons went; I am sure that they will have already learnt much.
That’s all for now. More updates coming tomorrow!
